Main Street businesses are losing sales to big box stores, national retailers, and online sales. Local retailers can’t compete with the advanced marketing solutions of the big retailers.
Even though local retailers spend over $200B annually to attract and retain customers, much of this spend is with traditional media, which is ineffective, unmeasurable, and with no defined ROI. And when it comes to taking advantage of new digital media loyalty and promotion solutions, local business can’t match their larger competitors, nor measure ROI.
We believe independent locally owned businesses are the backbone of the US economy. If they thrive, communities prosper. So we‘re re-inventing the way they promote themselves with a modern marketing platform to grow their businesses and level the playing field with big national retailers – ShopMyNeighborhood® (SMN).
SMN is a loyalty program for the whole community. It’s the first Coalition Loyalty Program for small businesses that rewards local shoppers for buying from multiple Main Street merchants as part of a single program. That’s why we bring our Solution into communities as a turnkey, sustainable Buy Local campaign.
The SMN program is deployed community-by-community through Chamber of Commerce Buy Local campaigns using a 90-day marketing blitz and culminating in a Buy Local Week.
Increasing local retail sales means a more vibrant local economy, more jobs for residents, a bigger tax base, and more dollars staying within the community. That’s the goal of ShopMyNeighborhood.
Through an agreement with MasterCard®, SMN implements its Coalition Loyalty Program on the proven technology of the Card Association Network (CAN).
Shoppers are provided with an SMN MasterCard Rewards Card1 – the only rewards card that operates on the CAN independent of the form of payment. This one card works at all SMN merchants on existing credit card terminals.
When the card is swiped, rewards are issued and redeemed using patented, proprietary IP. SMN captures transaction information for Big Data-targeted marketing campaigns by participating local merchants. SMN is architected to migrate from a card to a mobile app in late 2015.
